SPECIFICATIONS

1. Annual Flow tests must meet NFPA25 standards

 

2. Quarterly flow tests must meet NFPA25 standards

 

3. In addition, these one-time tests per the length of the contract will need to be performed in the first six months of the contract:

 

           a. Five-year internal inspection and cleaning of check valves, precision valves, and deluge valves per NFPA25 standards

           b. Five-year flow test per NFPA25 standards

           c. Five-year testing and or replacement of all system pressure gauges per NFPA25 standards

           d. Five-year internal obstruction investigation of system piping per NFPA25 standards

           e. Three-year dry system air leakage test per NFPA25 standards

 

4. Contractor must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience, testing fire alarm systems

 

5. The work under this contract will require two (2) vendor supplied personnel ; contractor must be able to provide proof of certification by NICET (National Institute for Certification of Engineering Technicians) if requested.  A minimum of one certified technician is required to be on-site during testing.

 

           a. One (1) qualified person, licensed in Wisconsin to silence/disable the building fire alarm in accordance with NFPA72 standards, and in the event of an emergency, call 911, for assistance.

           b. One (1) qualified person who is licensed in Wisconsin to perform testing in accordance with NFPA25 standards

6. Contractor's staff must be properly trained for the systems they will be testing, qualified and competent to perform the services required by this contract using industry accepted standards, with a minimum one (1) year experience on each system.

 

7. Contractor must report to department contact all life safety issues and potentially detrimental site conditions that could compromise the performance of the system, prior to leaving the site.

 

8. All systems must be returned to normal and in operating condition before leaving the site.

 

9. Contractor is required to provide a complete Fire Protection Impairment form to be provided by UW Plumbing shop.

 

10. The Contractor shall provide, within ten (10) days or as mutually agreed upon by contractor and contract administrator, two (2) copies of the testing, including but not limited to: Fire detection/suppression system generated hard copy report of field device test responses records; a listing of all equipment problems and two (2) written letters on company letterhead certifying that all required testing has been completed and meets the current codes. Both sets are to be delivered to the proper staff for approval. UW Madison Staff may request that reports also be on CD. No invoices will be paid until testing reports are submitted to, and approved by UW Plumbing.
