Searches and Finds

If a user does not know a field value or only part of it, there are different ways to look up information as needed.

Within the Payroll Table Translation Screen

The wildcard character in the Oracle system is identified by the “%” symbol. There are ways to look up wanted information in the application using “%”.

  1. Place the “%” after entering some data on the Payroll Translation Table Screen. This will bring up the subsequent screen with all data related to the digits entered plus any others to find because the wildcard was entered. For example, if the user places “12%” in the Appropriation field, the subsequent screen will return all records related to Appropriations beginning with “12.”
  2. The user can enter full information on any field to arrive at the subsequent screen, which will bring up a list of records pertaining to what was entered. At the top is the “Find” line. A user can enter information in the order given for the table (Unit, Appropriation, Activity, DDS, User Code, and Description) to look up information. If the user knows the Unit and Appropriation and would like a list of records related to those two items, the user would enter, for example, “C128%”. This will bring records related to Unit = C and Appropriation = 128.

Within the UDDS Lookup Screen

A user can also do a lookup on information if they know the UDDS. The user will enter information in the UDDS field and click on “Enter.” A list will come up showing all records currently related to the particular UDDS entered. If there are many records, the user can click on the scroll bar on the right side to view more. The UDDS Lookup Screen looks like this:
