Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Now that I have purchased this computer, what do I need to get it running?
When you purchase a computer with Windows 7 installed, you will only need to attach the proper cables to your new computer (ie: Power, Video, Ethernet) and turn it on.
  2. How do I keep my new computer safe from viruses?
The only way to keep your computer completely free of viruses and other malicious software is to never have it connected to the Internet. Since this is not realistic, we recommend that you immediately install antivirus software when you first turn on your computer and verify that it automatically updates regularly.
  3. Why was I given the product key sheet and media disk?
You will need the information from the product key sheet and the media disk if you ever have to reinstall your operating system. We recommend storing them together in a safe place where they cannot get damaged or lost.

Definition of Terms

  • Certificate of Authenticity (COA)
A COA is a sticker label that helps you identify the genuine Microsoft software. A COA is not a softare license - it is a visual identifier that assists in determining whether or not the Microsoft software you are runing is geniune. However, without it, you will not be properly licensed to run Microsoft software. A COA should never be purchased by itself without the software it authenticates. This sticker will be located on the underside of our laptops and on the top or sides of our computer towers.
  • Product Key
A product key is a unique combination of numbers and letters that is used during Microsoft software installation to "unlock" or activate the product. This information is located on the product key sheet, given to you at the time of purchase.
