The upgrade to the MDS e-commerce system was completed on March 4, 2013, and enhances the shopping experience by providing better tools for searching and product comparison.
Shoppers will notice links to suppliers located in three areas on the main landing web page:
- Shop at a Hosted Supplier Catalog
Use the Shop & Compare area of the web page to enter keywords, part numbers (SKU), supplier names, and manufacturer names of products to shop and compare across multiple hosted supplier catalogs. Items resulting from a search may be added to the shopping cart directly from the search window. Shoppers may also use the handy search feature available on supplier links at the “Shop at a Hosted Supplier Catalog” section of the web page. - Shop at a Punch-out Supplier Site
Click on supplier links at the “Shop at a Punch-out Supplier Site” section to go directly to the vendor web site to place items in the shopping cart. - Leave Shop@UW to External Links (if applicable to the business unit)
The Shop@UW e-commerce site allows for links to external suppliers because, for some business units, shoppers may need to leave the Shop@UW site to order an item.
