CABLE JACKETS FOR ICE CUBE PROJECT

(contract last updated 04/14/2006)

SCOPE: The IceCube Project is an international scientific project with collaborating institutions located in several foreign countries and in various locations in the United States. This project involves a one-cubic-kilometer high-energy neutrino observatory being built and installed in the clear deep ice below the South Pole Station. Further information on Project IceCube can be obtained at the following website http://icecube.wisc.edu

The cable tubing identified is known to meet all of the unique requirements including performance, tolerance to conditions, ease of use and replacement, and accessibility needed for this project.

The cable tubing identified is used as part of the cable assembly process. Since the cable tubing is critical to cable assembly manufacturing, Ice Cube will purchase the cable tubing and supply them to a separate cable assembly contractor. Project IceCube will need to obtain the first delivery of cable tubing in time for delivery to the cable assembly contractor, estimated to be the early May 2006.
