SCOPE: Contract for the purchase of Controlling of Pest Plants for the Lakeshore Nature Preserve and UW Campus.
The 300 acre preserve is located on the main UW-Madison campus. General information about the Preserve can be viewed at www.lakeshorepreserve.wisc.edu with a detailed interactive map.
Pest plant control services may be requested anywhere within the Preserve. Specific treatment areas will be determined by the Preserve’s Program Manager or designee. Work may occur throughout the year, although some work activities are season dependent.
Control methods may include manual (hand-pulling or digging), mechanical (cutting and mowing), or chemical (herbicide application) control of herbaceous (non-woody) and woody plants as specified by the Program Manager or designee. Processing (chipping) plant waste is included as a separate bid lot. Contractor must follow recommendations in the Preserve Invasive Plant Control Handbook (Attachment I). Felling trees larger than 6 inches in diameter is outside the scope of this contract.
The Program Manager or designee will provide the Contractor(s) with an anticipated work estimate at least twice yearly. For Spring/Summer work (April-August) the Program Manager will provide notification no later than April 1. For Fall/Winter work (September-March) the Program Manager or designed will provide notification no later than August 1. Within five (5) days of receiving notification of the estimated work, the Contractor will provide a written response to the Program Manager or designee indicating if the Contractor will be able to complete the work as detailed in the notification. As unanticipated needs require, the Program Manager or designee may request additional services throughout the year, not specifically detailed in the anticipated work estimate.
All Contractor work must be scheduled at a minimum of 1 day in advance with the Program Manager or designee.
UW Facilities Planning and Management (FP&M) will work with contractor to schedule work on campus. |
