SPECIFICATIONS

The Rapid HIV-1 Antibody Test Kits and Controls (Items 2 & 3) will be shipped to WSLH as well as various locations throughout the state of Wisconsin.

A.

Item 1 - Oral Fluid Specimen Collection Devices Product Specifications

1.

The device must be FDA approved.

2.

Oral fluid specimens collected in these devices must be capable of being tested using Oral Fluid Avioq HIV-1 Microelisa System manufactured by Organon Teknicka Corporation and/or the OraSure HIV-1 Western Blot Kit manufactured by Epitope, Inc.

3.

Devices with collected oral fluid specimens must be stable for a maximum of 21 days when stored at 4 – 37 degrees Celsius.

4.

The oral fluid collection device must consist of a treated absorbent cotton fiber pad affixed to a nylon stick and a preservative solution in a plastic container.

5.

The cotton pad must contain salts and gelatin, which facilitate the flow of antibodies from the gingival mucosa into the mouth and onto the pad.

6.

The collection vial must contain a preservative solution, which stabilizes HIV antibodies.

7.

The collection vial must be capped securely for the safe transport to a testing facility.

Item 2 & 3 - HIV-Rapid Antibody Test Kits and Controls Product Specifications

1.

The device must be FDA approved

2.

Test kit must be a rapid point-of-care antibody test that can be used with oral fluid specimens for the diagnosis of HIV infections.

3.

Results must be produced in 20 minutes or less.

4.

Test kits must have out date of no less than 10 months.

5.

Kit controls must be appropriate for use with the identified test.

6.

Kit controls must have out date of no less than 10 months.
