TELESCOPE CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

SCOPE: The UW-Madison Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC) is working with the Department of Astronomy and the Space Astronomy Lab (SAL) in the development of the Robert Stobie Spectrograph Near Infrared (RSS-NIR) instrument for the Southern African Large Telescope (SALT). The NIR project has received financial support from the National Science Foundation, Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, and the SALT Foundation. The project has successfully passed Conceptual, Preliminary, and Mid-Term reviews. The NIR Project has a need for an experienced electrical engineer to support the control system design, development, and testing and, potentially, the power distribution system for the instrument.
