DELIVERY SCHEDULE:

Monthly Standing Order to be delivered on or before the 15th of each month for approximately the following:

4,000 vessels of #1 (Vessel, Non-Thiosulfate)
4,500 vessels of #2 (Vessel, with Sodium Thiosulfate)

SPECIFICATIONS

I.          VESSELS GENERAL REQUIREMENTS                                                                        
1.         Vessels must be able to be used for both a collection vessel and a testing vessel.

2.         Vessels must have a high clarity and be made of polystyrene or comparable with a wide mouth (minimum 38mm)

3.         The screw cap must be non-leaking with a non-toxic cap and liner (polypropylene liner F-217 or comparable).

4.         Vessels must have a tamper-proof seal.            

5.         The tamper-proof seal must be a shrink band around the cap that needs to be peeled and meet   the approval of the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene’s Water Microbiology Unit.*

            *Paper Tamper less costly to produce and has less plastic waste versus shrink band and paper is currently being used on stock bottles manufactured by vendor.  Lot numbers, part numbers, and contact information can also be printed on paper tamper seal.

6.         The vessels must be sterile and meet QA criteria (Manual for the Certification of Laboratories Analyzing Drinking Water, EPA 5th Ed., January 2006 and Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater), 21th ed. (APHA-AWWA) for potable water samples.

7.         A certificate of sterilization or irradiation must be provided at no extra cost for each sterilization cycle.

8.         The vessels must be able to contain at least 160 ML       .

9.         The vessels must not fluoresce or block the fluorescence of a sample under long wavelength (366nm) 6 watt ultraviolet lamp.

10.        The vessels must be recyclable with the standard recycling numbered triangle (symbol) on the vessel bottom or the word recyclable printed on the vessel.

11.        Vessels must fit in our rectangular styrofoam shipping container.  Inside dimensions are 2” x 2” x 4-3/4”. 

II          VESSEL “2” REQUIREMENTS                                                                                                            
1.         Vessel must contain sufficient sodium thiosulfate to neutralize up to 10 ppm of chlorine in a full container.

2.         The sodium thiosulfate must dissolve completely when water is added.                          

III.        VESSEL “1” AND “2” PRINTING REQUIREMENTS                                                      
1.         Artwork proof must be provided and approved by Sharon Kluender prior to manufacturing the vessels.  WSLH will provide Contractor with electronic file or camera copy of logo.

2.         Printing should be with the following colored dye or ink. 

Vessel “1” – red or similar shade with white or matching colored cap
Vessel “2” – blue/green or similar shade with white or matching colored cap

3.         Vessel “1” must have the following printing on it:                      
Imprint on the vessel:  FILL BOTTLE LEAVING   
1” HEAD SPACE

            At an inch below the lip a line should surround the bottle indicating the fill line.  This line does not need to be screen printed if bottle is designed to indicate the line  by other means acceptable to lab.

            A line should surround the vessel at the 100ml mark with +/-2.5ml.  This line does not need to be screen printed if bottle is designed to indicate the line by other means  acceptable to lab.

            Between the WSLH logo/name and the bottle neck there will be a ½ x 1-1/2” area of colored ink that can be written on with pencil or ballpoint pen.  The “NAME should be printed directly to the left of this area

4.         Vessel “2” must have the following printing on it:                                                          
Imprint on the vessel:  FILL BOTTLE LEAVING   
1” HEAD SPACE

            At an inch below the lip a line should surround the bottle indicating the fill line. This line does not need to be screen printed if bottle is designed to indicate the line by other means acceptable to lab.

            At the bottom of the vessel the following words are written:
“This bottle contains sodium thiosulfate” and “nitrate testing cannot be done from this bottle”.

III.        General Requirements                                                 
1.         Contractor must provide at “no charge”, replacements of contaminated, damaged or defective vessels and pay shipping charges to return the vessels.  (Such as: Missing thiosulfate from thio bottles, thiosulfate in plain bottles, broken or cracked bottles, paper in the bottles, particles embedded in plastic, excessive scratches on bottles – 5% of the bottle has scratches or deeply embedded scratch(es), the printing on the bottles is not consistent with specifications.)

2.         Contractor must have at least 1200 vessels of each type of vessel on hand to ship within 3 days for emergencies.

3.         Contractor should provide name and address of a company that will recycle the bottles and pay  to have the bottles transported to them for recycling.*

            *Current statutes in CA do not allow vendor to recycle laboratory waste.  Suggest WSLH to contact their current recycler.

4.         Contractor will be required to reimburse WSLH for any costs incurred by WSLH to reimburse Clients in recollecting samples due to defects in the supplied vessels.*

            Cannot reimburse for improper handling, storage, misuse, or negligence on part of WSLH, or end user errors.
