SCOPE: The Babcock Hall Dairy Plant is a multiproduct research and teaching facility. At least three Food Science degree courses and ten short courses utilize the plant for demonstrations and manufacturing activities. In addition, faculty researchers, graduate students, and industry clients use the plant in their research for evaluating processes, ingredients and equipment.

In house processing equipment allows for the manufacture of yogurt, ice cream, fluid milk products, butter, cheese, and most fermented dairy products. Equipment for the concentration of whey, milk, and other fluid food systems is also available. Client users can bring in additional processing equipment.

SPECIFICATIONS

All products delivered to the University must be guaranteed to comply with all Federal Pure Food Laws and Regulations and to applicable Wisconsin Laws.

Nutritional content must be made available to the Dairy upon request by the University for all products listed.

1.        Certificate of Analysis
           A Certificate of Analysis must be sent for every shipment for each product shipped.

2.         Delivery:

            2.1      Delivery shall be 10 days after receipt of order (ARO). 

            2.2      The Contractor is required to notify the ordering department of any back order, discontinuation of item(s) or other delays in shipping within 24 hours of receipt of order or release against existing order(s).

            2.3      Delivery is to be made in clean, enclosed trucks, free of foul odors. 

            2.4      Individual packages or shipping containers shall be plainly marked with the kind, variety, count (if applicable), and net contents contained therein, and the name of the manufacturer or packer.  Any shipped packages or containers received at the units which are not properly marked as per the instructions indicated, may be cause for automatic rejection.

            2.5      Minimum delivery charges are not acceptable.

 3.       Docking Requirements:
           Shipments delivered on pallets must be on four way entry pallets.  Pallets must be in good condition, no broken boards or rails.  Multiple packages may be banded or shrink-wrapped on a single pallet. Products must not exceed the pallet dimensions (40”x48”x60”H), with no overhang.  All hazardous materials must be picked, packed, wrapped, labeled, sorted and shipped per all Federal and State regulations.  To facilitate delivery, dock level trucks must be used.

The UW will not accept damaged material.  It is the contractor or freight company’s responsibility for clean up.

4.        Contractor Major Structural Change:
           The Contractor is required to provide the Department with a minimum of 90 days written advance notice of any planned or potential structural change (merger, buyout, acquisition, consolidation, etc.). Contract may not be automatically assigned to the new entity (since the underlying procurement may be affected).

AMENDMENT #2 (10/09/09): issued to: (1) correct the F.O.B. to Madison, Wi; and (2) show an increase in price for sugar effective October 1, 2009.
