LIGHTING SERVICES AND USE OF EQUIPMENT FOR THE UW VARSITY BAND SHOW

SCOPE: Contract for  lighting services and use of equipment for the UW varsity band show.

The UW Varsity Band Show is best described as a large pep rally and concert with high production values, with literally hundreds of musicians onstage performing simultaneously. The quality of the lighting for the event is considered by the University to be an essential component to the success of the event.

SPECIFICATIONS

LIGHTING PERSONNEL:
to be provided by the Lighting Vendor

1. An experienced rock n roll programmer and board operator with these duties:
* to program and control automated and conventional lighting systems and video servers.
* to program and label Grand MA 2 console for LD. The LD is also an operator and will control portions of the show.
* to work well with LD on fast paced show with little rehearsal time.                                      

2. A head electrician with these duties:
* to supervise advance work and prep equipment in shop.
* to supervise local rigging crew with hanging of vendors trussing.
* to supervise hanging, circuiting and focusing of all lighting equipment.
*to maintain and repair all equipment for duration of show and assist LD as required.      

3. A video technician with these duties:
* to supervise advance work and prep equipment in shop.
* to supervise local rigging crew with hanging of vendors trussing and scenic motors.
* to program  and control scenic motor control.
* to supervise hanging and circuiting of all video panels.
* to maintain and repair all equipment for duration of show and assist LD as required. Assistant electrician(s) as required, to assist head electrician.

Dimmers for the Cyc Electric will be located in a lobby area behind the stage. The truss trims at only 8’. Cable runs are as short as 50’ from the end of the truss.

Dimmers for the US Electrics will be located in the SL Vom. The trusses trim at 38’ 6”. Cable runs are at least 100’ from the end of the truss.

Dimmers for the DS Electrics will be located in the SR Vom. The trusses trim at 37’. Cable runs are at least 150’ from the end of the truss.

The show has high trims and open sightlines. Cable trusses with very high trims are required for all electrics.
