Purpose: |
Workshops are held that will provide an overview of your tax obligations while in the United States and receiving income from the University of Wisconsin |
Attendees: |
Bring the following with you to the workshop: Immigration Documents – Originals (passport, visa, I-94 card, and I-20/DS-2019/or I-797. If you have an EAD card, bring that also), and the Letter of Offer from your employing department. IMPORTANT: This is a presentation, not a walk-in session. Late arrivals may not be allowed to participate. Plan to arrive 10 - 15 minutes before the session begin times shown below, and to stay for the entire session.

Onsite Application Procedure (Fall Only)
IMPORTANT: You must attend the tax workshop (above) and apply for your SSN or ITIN number on the same day.
- BEFORE applying onsite for YOUR SSN OR ITIN NUMBER, YOU MUST have an “ADMISSION TICKET” issued by the Office of Human Resources payroll staff.
- You will be given an “admission ticket” when you have completed the required international tax paperwork, which will be done at the sessions above.
- You will be directed to the onsite location of the Social Security and Individual Taxpayer Identification Number representatives.
- You MUST have an “admission ticket” to present at the door. The ticket will have a checklist of the things you need to do.
Students Note: the International Student Services office will be onsite to provide you with a Designated School Official Letter.
