Updating Addresses
It is the student's responsibility to maintain a current Mailing and/or Home address at all times on their My UW Student Center.
Exception: The University changes the MAILING address the first semester only for first-year students residing in University housing. After the first semester, the student is responsible for maintaining their addresses, using the unique University housing address format required by the United States Postal Service.
How do I update my addresses?
- Log on to http://my.wisc.edu and select Student Center.
- View, update, and delete addresses in the Personal Information section.
Who can change my address?
- Only the student can change their addresses, or the Office of the Registrar.
I am having problems changing my address, what should I do?
- Contact Office of the Registrar: (email jenny.hefty@em.wisc.edu ) (phone 608 262-4378).
What is the distinction between Billing, Mailing and Home addresses?
- The MAILING address should be the student's on-campus address, and most commonly used by UW-Madison for communications.
- The HOME address is usually the student's parent/'s address, but can also be the student's HOME address.
- Bursar's office mails Tuition account refund checks to the active MAILING address.
Exception: Parent PLUS loan refunds are mailed to the Borrower's HOME address (not to the student).- If there is no active MAILING address, the refund is mailed to the student's active HOME address.
- If there is no active MAILING or HOME address, the refund cannot be processed and Bursar's office notifies the student via e-mail.
