Head Start
For cancellation as a Head Start employee:
- You must be a regular full-time employee.
- You must work in a professional capacity to carry out the educational part of a Head Start Program.
- The program must operate for a full academic year or its equivalent.
- Your salary must not exceed that of a comparable employee working in the local educational agency.
- Your application for cancellation must be signed by an authorized official of the Head Start Program.
Rate of Cancellation
Any interest that may have accrued during the year of eligible employment will be canceled. In addition, the following percentages of the original principal loan amount will be canceled.

| Third year | 15% |
| Fourth year | 15% |
| Fifth year | 15% |
| Sixth year | 15% |
| Seventh year | 10% |
