Fringe Benefit Categories
In order to calculate an allocated fringe benefit rate, all accounting salary class codes must fall within one of the fringe benefits salary groups listed below. This also includes IIA (inter-institutional class codes). An allocated rate is established based on each of these eight (8) groups.
Note: The Fellows rate includes those ‘supply’ class codes (57X2) which represent pre-doctoral fellows with an activity code of 9. The payroll class code is 1X41 but with the activity 9 combination it ‘converts’ to the 57XX series when it is processed through the accounting system.
These groupings are used both in the cash processing and the encumbrance adjustment process.
